Dave's Percussion Library Online

Do you want to get involved?

Since creating this library (first version in 1995!) I have hoped to build a valuable resource for percussionists. I've discovered that I can't do it alone -- I've also learned that people want to be involved and I appreciate all the help and encouragement I've received.

With your help, this resource will continue to improve...

What's in it for you?

  • Fame!
  • My gratitude.
  • And, of course, an ever-changing annotated library of percussion music complete with performance notes, composer biographies, publisher's contact info, reviews, more...

Here are 9 Ways You Can Get Involved

I tried to think of 10 because I thought it sounded better...but alas...here's NINE:

1. Comment and send email:
Let me know if I've missed something important or if you believe the information is not accurate. Or please tell me if you find a typo.
If you have a scanner, perhaps you could scan the cover page of a piece listed on my site and email it to me. People like pictures but many of the items in my web site are lacking a photo. I've tried to make time to scan items in my own library or find suitable images on the internet but it's an arduous process.
If you're reading about your favourite snare drum solo and my web site doesn't yet know who "premiered" the piece or if you have comments to add to the review, or if you merely want to say "I love that tune", then please send me email -- I'll enjoy sharing your wisdom.
How can I repay you? Well, I'll try my best to include your comments or suggestions in my web site. If you have a substantial amount of information to contribute about a piece listed on my site then I'm liable to post your name and a thank-you.
2. Submit new items:
If you want to tell the world about your favourite percussion music, then you can submit new items by sending the information to me via email.
This is an easy process and I'll add the information to my database on your behalf.
How can I repay you? I'll happily post your name (unless you'd prefer to remain anonymous) like: "This information was graciously contributed by your name here".
3. Send me your stuff:
Steve Kastuck, from Kastuck Percussion Studio, Inc., sent me a package a few years ago. I remember that day. I woke up late (or right-on-time depending how you look at it), made coffee, and was wondering around the house in my underwear when I opened the front door to check the mailbox. There, at my front door, was a package of sheet music from Kastuck Percussion Studio, Inc. I was happily amazed! Snare drums solos, marimba solos, timpani collections, wow! Steve and I have maintained a rather informal online relationship and I thoroughly appreciate his interest in my web site -- thanks again, Steve.
This is an open invitation to all composers and publishers. Please feel free to send me stuff and I'll do my best to ensure that your sheet music is listed in a timely and respectful manner in this database.

4. Become a member:
Are you a composer? Are you a publisher? Are you a scholar with a hankering to share your knowledge?
If so, then you can register as a member on this site and immediately begin adding new items to the database.
How can I repay you? First, you'll be listed with other esteemed members on this page. Second, your name and contact information (if you so choose) will be published as a "contributor" with each item that you submit.
5. Advertise on this site:
Do you own or operate a web site?
My web site has experienced success over the years and (a welcome surprise) people visit my site! Lots of people!
You can put your ads on this site through the use of the Google AdSense program. Just click on the Google link that says: "Advertise on this site" -- Google does the rest.
What can I do to repay you? Well, I'll send traffic to your site. It's a win-win arrangement I suppose.
6. Link to me:
Are you a webmaster? Do you have a blog? One of the most important things I've learned over the years on the internet is that "link-exchange" is a great way to share an audience and "word of mouth" is better than any search engine.
Example text link:
<a href="http://library.davesabine.com/">Dave Sabine's Percussion Library Online</a>

This code produces the following:

Example link with an image:
<a href="http://library.davesabine.com/"><img src="http://library.davesabine.com/uploads/1/ID(1).gif" alt="Dave Sabine's Percussion Library Online" /></a>

This code produces the following:

How can I repay you? Well, if your web site is related to mine in some way or if I believe that my audience would enjoy your web site then I'll happily link to you in return.
7. You can put my "Top 10" or "Latest Updates" on your web site!
Visit the RSS page to learn how you can put active content from my web site on your own pages.
You can copy-n-paste a bit of code into your web page and, voila!, you'll have "Dave's Top 10" or "Latest Additions to Dave's Library" on your own web site.
8. Cash:
If you like what I'm doing and want to assist with the expense of maintaining and improving this resource then I'll gladly accept gifts, donations, a salary.
How can I repay you? Uhm...well..let's talk.
9. Own this Software:
Yep... you can have your own library and use the same software that I do! The software that I use to operate my library is called "20/20 DataShed" and for sale at www.2020applications.com.
This is a great tool for small-to-medium sized publishers or composers, or if you're an enthusiast like me!
The best part is that you'll be able to maintain your own inventory at your own web site...and you'll be able to submit your own items to my library -- automatically!
