What is RSS and How Do I Use It?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's a great way to stay connected and get involved.

If you have an RSS "reader" (like MSIE 7.0 or FireFox or other obscure things called RSS "aggregators") then you can retrieve the latest information from Dave's Percussion Library Online and view it anytime on your own computer, your own web site, your cell phone or PDA or whatever. There are a few different ways that you can use these RSS feeds.
  • You can simply click on one of the RSS buttons on this page (the orange buttons above) -- your RSS reader will do the rest and provide you with further instructions. (This will work only if you have MSIE 7.0 or FireFox or an RSS "aggregator".
  • If you would like to include the data provided in any of these RSS feeds in one of your own web pages, then click on the "JavaScript" link to get example source code that you can paste into your web pages. Cool eh? You can put "Dave's Top 10" on your own site!

At the museum of modern art in New York City a few Sundays ago, an orchestra of earnest, dressed-up musicians sat on the stage and began to hit things with sticks and hands...The audience, which was very high-brow, listened intently without seeming to be disturbed at the noisy results...The occassion was a percussion concert.
