I apologize that I haven't created an arrangement of movements 2 and 3. In any event, I thoroughly enjoyed arranging this third movement for marimba trio.
Essentially, player 1 is given the melodic parts, player 2 the inner-melodic and supporting parts, and player 3 is given the bass parts. Each marimbist in the trio is given equal consideration and each part presents challenges.
Multi-Sonics lives up to its title; it's an exploration of the many sounds available in the snare drum. Using scrapes, clicks, rims, heads, sticks, fingers, snares, strainers, etc. Gary Deiboldt has created a melodic (although non-picthed) piece that is sure to please.
People will argue for centuries whether or not the compositions in this collection are "music". Some will claim that this is all just a madman's fodder, others will claim that it's his most important work.Regardless which side of the debate one takes, it's a good read. These compositions represent an early (and very extreme) form of indeterminacy that every modern musician should be aware of.
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's a great way to stay connected and get involved.
If you have an RSS "reader" (like MSIE 7.0 or FireFox or other obscure things called RSS "aggregators") then you can retrieve the latest information from Dave's Percussion Library Online and view it anytime on your own computer, your own web site, your cell phone or PDA or whatever. There are a few different ways that you can use these RSS feeds.
You can simply click on one of the RSS buttons on this page (the orange buttons above) -- your RSS reader will do the rest and provide you with further instructions. (This will work only if you have MSIE 7.0 or FireFox or an RSS "aggregator".
